What is Keratosis Pilaris?

From http://www.keratosispilaris.org/

Keratosis Pilaris is a very common genetic follicular disease manifested by the appearance of rough bumps on the skin. Primarily, it appears on the back and outer sides of the upper arms, but can also occur on thighs and buttocks or any body part except palms or soles. There are several different types of keratosis pilaris, including keratosis pilaris rubra (red, inflamed bumps), alba (rough, bumpy skin with no irritation), rubra faceii (reddish rash on the cheeks) and related disorders.

I have had this skin disorder since I was in middle school. This skin disorder greatly affect my confidence level as well as my point of view towards outlook. Now, I think I have a positive attitude towards how I look with keratosis pilaris, I mean at least I won’t be upset with my bumps. Both my family doctor and the dermatologist told me that this can only be improved with lotions related to AHA, etc. They told me that this condition cannot be fully cured. But to now, I still have hope in finding a way to cure this problem.

Have you tried using some form of alternative treatments e.g., homeopathy, naturopathy, etc? From my own experience I have found that natural treatments to be a lot more effective and more importantly, side-effect free, than conventional drugs. Some good websites to search for more info are http://www.curezone.com and http://www.mercola.com
